Hangar 9 Funtana S cont.

Party Time

The Funtana S will do just about every 3D trick you can throw at it. Here are a few that I've found to be really extraordinary:
The Wall
The fact that any .40-size model will do this is amazing enough. For this one the "snap-spoilerons" really help. Using high-rate "3D" elevator, enter level at a mid- to high speed. Quickly reduce the throttle to low and then pull full up elevator. The snap-spoilerons let the Funtana S rotate vertically, then as they kick in, they stabilize the model and slide it forward toward the belly instead vertically. When the model is vertical, release the elevator and add full power to climb out. It'll even do it inverted. Just do everything the same, only enter inverted and push full down-elevator.
The Parachute
Again using 3D rate elevator and snap-spoilerons, enter a vertical dive at low throttle. As the Funtana S builds a little speed, quickly pull full up elevator. The Funtana S will suddenly snap to level flight and begin to descend vertically in an Elevator. Add power and fly out. Like the Wall, try the Parachute inverted too. Instead of pulling full up, push full down.
The Tic Toc
This is a variation of the Parachute. Same setup, only this time, after you pull full up and the model snaps to level, immediately push full down and blip a little power and the model will tuck under into an inverted Parachute. Repeat this going from inside to outside, and the Funtana S will pitch back and forth like the pendulum of a clock.
To exit, add full power as you add full down elevator and hold in until it flips over to upright, then release the elevator and fly out.
Blender - An Oldie but a Goodie
With the Funtana, I like to do this with a twist. Use "3D" elevator and ailerons and turn on the snap-spoilerons. Enter a vertical dive at low throttle. As the Funtana S builds a little speed, simultaneously add full down, full left aileron and full right rudder. Then immediately cross the aileron over to neutral while holding full down and right rudder. The Funtana S will snap to an inverted flat spin.

Now the twist. Enter the same, only this time simultaneously pull full up, full left aileron and full left rudder, then immediately cross aileron back to neutral. That's the Inside Blender. The model snaps to an upright flat spin. Cool twist to an old favorite.

The Funtana S will do all of these and lots more like a champ. Please don't tell it it's a small model. It apparently thinks it's a big TOC model, and we don't want the Funtana S to realize it's not. Happy Landings!
